Thoughts and notes of a researcher in plant genetics and nutritional epidemiology in Japan and the U.S. with a wide range of interests - choral activities, photography, nature, travel, and drawing. L'épanouissement personnel means personal development and fulfillment. Still in the middle of it, enjoying the process.

New normal has become really a new normal
Michigan's stay home order extended again. I think it's necessary to do that given the current number of cases in Michigan. People are agitated to go out because of the sunny warm weather, and I saw a few people gathering and hanging out outside. A little bit more patience, everyone..!
It's been humid nowadays, so it feels hotter than the actual temperature. The breathe is nice, but still I sweat quite a bit after exercising. Better to run or bike early morning or in the evening.
News are still devlivered from home.

Grand River overflowed!
It was a bright, sunny, and breathy day!
Flooded road! I couldn't believe it.
I just cannot help stopping by and take photos of this sublime beauty.
Looks the best in bright sun at 6 pm!
The river completely overflowed and doubled in width. Original river on the right and what was used to be sidewalks and grass are on the left now gulped by the riverwater. People were stopping and looking at it with an astonished look. I was one of them.
Now the river formed a lake..
"Beach" made of grass. It's just hard to believe.
Trees, an electric pole, everything is growing in water.
Inundated baseball stadium complex!!
The water got very close to the sidewalk. It used to be a parking lot.
It didn't rain yesterday or today, but the water level is higher today. Will the water recede or increase even more? It's kind of scary though I live on a higher land, relatively speaking. Flooding occurs occasionally around this area because of the river and a lot of rain during spring and summer. But I never knew. Never have I explored campus this much this frequently. We'll see how things are tomorrow.
