Attended an outdoor photo session the other day.
It was a group of serious photographers and a professional model! The model was great, well-experienced, not to be shy at all, full of suggestions and ideas, ready to roll! I didn't know it was this enjoyable to take photos of people. The garden was beautiful with many flowers and a stream, too. It was after heavy rain, so the sky wasn't very clear, but I enjoyed taking photos of them despite an insect bite... Next time I must wear full length pants, shoes, and a bug spray!
Things I learned:
- Set white balance to AUTO, unless the subject is under yellow (incandescent) light, in which case it's better to set it to Tungsten mode.
- Set your camera to A mode and have a low A value so that the shutter speed will be faster. It minimizes blurriness.
- Fill your screen with your subject.
- Take portrait (vertically long) pictures when your subject is vertically long (such as a standing person).
- If the sky is too bright, mimimize the area of sky in your screen and have more darker areas.
- Use a white screen to alleviate dark and light contrast on people's face. (There is a portable screen for this purpose. Amazing!)
Art filters are fun to use~
