It's now the hydrangea season! Sanjusangendo temple is famous for having a thousand of wooden Buddhist statues crafted some 700 years ago. It was almost overwhelming to see (and to be seen by) the thousand statues perfectly lined up in tiers. No pictures allowed inside, so you must see them in person. It has a lovely little circular path with some ponds, too. Chishakuin temple had a large hydrangea garden in bloom. Nice and quiet. It was surprisingly a cool day for June in Kyoto!
