On what was likely the last coworking day of the year, a friend made vegetable-packed jeon (Korean pancakes) and mochi-cheese patties! She is such a great cook! Flipping them over together was part of the fun. They were absolutely delicious. The mochi-cheese patties were made with leftover batter—such a clever idea.
I also got to talk with someone new who recently joined. She shared that she’s been in Japan for eight years and is about to apply for permanent residency in two years! She also told us about a social issue in the U.S.—how the effects of remote learning during COVID have left many current third-fourth graders unable to read or write. That really made me think.
After that, I worked hard to wrap up as much as I could before the end of the year. A true end-of-year vibe in a usually crowded office with just the three of us.
