帰省のあれこれ

福島から帰ってすぐ、危険物取扱者の試験がありました。@大分大学
山を切り開いて作られたらしく、ものすごく道が入り組んでいてしかも坂が多い...。福岡の平地に慣れてたので少々ビックリしました。ただ、キャンパスは新しくていいなーと思いました。
大分駅も綺麗になってました。頑張れ〜
最近父はボウリング部に入れられたそうで、そのスポーツ万能さを早速発揮し、大会で優勝してました。そしてその賞品(タオル)は私がもらいました（笑）。今度教えてもらお。

Aizu Day 2

2日目は磐梯山の岩雪崩が川を堰き止めて作られたという湖を見て、野口英世記念館へ。野口英世生家には、彼が左手を火傷した囲炉裏や、東京へ渡る時に柱に書いた「志を得ざれば再び此の地を踏まず」の文字などを見た。英語とフランス語を独学し、アメリカで博士号を取り、医学の発達に寄与して殉職した彼の業績は、"Through devotion to science He lived and died for humanity."と墓碑に刻まれるほど。世界で活躍している野口英世に宛てたお母さんのシカさんからの手紙など、ぐっとくるものがある。
また、彼の言葉の一つに
"La patience est amère, mais son fruit est doux." (忍耐は苦し、しかしその実は甘し)がある。本当に、頭の下がる思い。

Aizu Day 1

会津若松市は白虎隊の故郷。
白虎隊記念館のすぐそばに泊まってたのに、行けなくて残念。しかしパンフレットだけは入手！^_^
八重の桜ドラマ館や鶴ヶ城は見れましたが。夜は会津の地元料理、「こづゆ」をいただきました。おわんの。吸い物の具をめっちゃ多くして、糸こんにゃくを入れた感じ。あっさりでとても美味しかった！お祝いの席やちょっとフォーマルな場でよく出るんだって。大分->羽田->会津の移動ばかりの初日でした。

Fukushima Day1

福島へ一泊二日弾丸ツアー。
津波が二階の高さまで来た食堂とかも見た。磐梯山は昔大噴火して水蒸気爆発で大きな被害が出た山だそう。
会津ラーメンはさっぱりしてるから地元の人たちは朝ごはんにもラーメンを食べるのだそう。(えー) 確かに、朝早くから営業してるラーメン屋さんもたくさん見かけたな。
気候はやはり涼しく、東北だなーと思いました。つづく。

あじさい、焼肉、かき氷

ゴロの良い初夏の風物詩でございます。堪能して参りました。毎日蒸し暑いですが... 今年は雨が少ないです。
その分夏が長いのかしら...!?

留学から一時帰国中の友達の話を聞いて、楽しそうだなあ〜素敵だなあ〜と思いました。輝いてる！ 私も何かしなくちゃ！！ といいつつ今日もバタバタ実験尽くしで暮れていくんだけど......

Okinawa day 2

The following day had a better weather, and was perfect for sightseeing. The skies and the sea were so blue!!
I always wonder why the ocean is so blue in tropical islands. In the field near the shore were sugar canes swaying with the breeze. Such a nice scenery and I got the reason why Okinawa people come back to their home islands even if they move out to the mainland.

US base had a noticeable presence as well, so it was an opportunity to think what it is like to have a military base and things like storage of explosives nearby...

Okinawa!!

My first trip to Okinawa island! It was only for two days, but it was a wonderful excursion:D

A two-hour drive to an aquarium, quiet beach on the way, and traditional Okinawa live music with dinner! One of the staff at the local restaurant also showed us an old passport of a Okinawa resident, issued by US government when the prefecture belonged to the US! It really felt like it wasn't that long ago. He also showed me a notice indicating how to switch lanes to drive when Okinawa became a part of Japan again. It was very interesting. With cultural influences of China, their unique dialect, and English sings here and there, Okinawa seemed like none of other prefectures in mainland Japan. It felt like we were in a foreign country.

Lunch at Rose garden

It's been almost a month, but just posting pictures for record..
Some of my friends and I went out to a rose garden in a city an hour away from where I live. It's a botanical farm where they grow seasonal flowers and herbs, and serve some edible ones for lunch at the restaurant inside. The rose were beautiful with sweet scent. I liked the red-orange one named "Soleil de monde" (The Sun of the world").

日田花火ツアー

日田では川開き花火大会があってたので、夜だけちらっといってきました。いやー、想像したより混んでない(^_^;) その分、見やすかったけどね。小さい川の岸に座って足を投げ出して見る花火は素敵だった。
名物日田焼きそばと、ウイスキー博物館なるものをチラ見しながら、夜の街歩きをしました。楽しかった☆

麦視察

麦の育ち具合を見にいってきました。先週のお話では、順調に生育してて今週晴れて成熟したら完璧だということだったけど、今週はずっと雨だった...。梅雨入りしたし(*_*) 収穫期は一番乾燥が重要な時期なのに、梅雨に重なってしまうのがねえ... 天気はどうにもならないのですが、品質が落ちてしまうので困りものです。生産者の方々にとっても、等級が落ちれば価格が下がってしまうしね。。
