Plant Science Spring Formal

Plant Science Spring Formal is a on-campus party organized by student volunteers. The usual atrium transformed into a dancing hall wih delicious appetizers and drinks. It was another interesting opportunity to experience American culture.

Prom without the negative connotations of  prom - it was the first event of this kind in the plant science students' group and a success. It amazes me every time when a volunteer organizes social events without being told by anybody - in my case, it was mandatory service after hours, and it was not a good experience. The difference in mentality is stark - here, voluntary activities are positive things to add in your CV. And people are willing to participate these events without feeling obligated to. Freedom plays a big part in the whole system. I enjoy freedom to or not to be involved in organizing things.

Most of the ladies were dressed up and it was hard to see who some of them were! They looked so different from what they look in jeans and hoodies.
